The Client Brief
The objective was to create a distinctive Christmas Entertainment experience that would bring festive excitement directly to residential communities.
With 93 housing developments included in the programme, the attraction needed to be visually impressive, mobile and suitable for different residential environments.
The client wanted something more imaginative than a traditional Santa appearance, creating a memorable Christmas spectacle that could visit multiple locations over several weeks.
Our Challenge
Creating and delivering Santa Express presented both creative and logistical challenges.
Pastiche needed to design and construct a bespoke Christmas Land Train featuring a front engine, coal cart and carriages, while ensuring the finished attraction could operate as a mobile entertainment experience.
With 93 developments to visit, careful planning was also required around access arrangements, site layouts, vehicle movements and performance schedules.
The challenge was to combine a custom-built festive attraction with the practical requirements of delivering a coordinated, multi-week Christmas programme.
Our Creative Concept
Pastiche developed Santa Express as a travelling Christmas spectacle, designed to bring the magic of Father Christmas directly to residential communities.
The concept centred around a bespoke Land Train carrying Santa Claus and his team of Elves, creating an eye-catching festive arrival at each development.
The train featured festive lighting that illuminated the entire attraction after dark, alongside a smoke effect from the engine's chimney, adding an extra touch of magic and realism.
Rather than operating as a passenger attraction, Santa Express was designed exclusively as a mobile performance feature, allowing the festive characters to travel together as part of the Christmas experience.
Bespoke Land Train Design & Construction
One of the most distinctive elements of Santa Express was the Land Train itself, which was designed and built by Pastiche.
Our team created the complete train, including the front engine, coal cart and carriages, incorporating festive illumination and a smoke effect from the engine's chimney.
As darkness fell, the train lit up to create a spectacular Christmas display, while smoke rising from the chimney added a theatrical finishing touch.
The finished train provided a visually striking centrepiece for the event, demonstrating Pastiche's ability to combine Creative Design, practical construction, special effects and bespoke Event Production.
The Santa Express Performance
Santa Express featured Father Christmas and his team of Elves travelling aboard the custom-built Land Train.
As the train arrived at each development, the Performers brought festive excitement and visual spectacle directly to residents and families.
The train was used exclusively by the Performers as part of the entertainment and was not designed or operated to provide rides for children or members of the public.
This allowed Santa Express to function as a travelling Christmas performance, rather than a traditional passenger attraction.
Multi-Site Event Planning & Logistics
Delivering a bespoke Land Train experience across 93 housing developments required extensive Event Planning and logistical coordination.
Pastiche managed the programme of visits, performer schedules, travel arrangements and operational requirements associated with moving the attraction between locations.
Each development presented different access and layout considerations, requiring careful planning to ensure that Santa Express could be delivered consistently throughout the multi-week programme.
